Here’s a chance to see a completely different view of the Meadows!
The Geography Department at the University of Nottingham have built a 3D model of the Meadows which they can project lots of different kinds of information onto to show different aspects of the area.
Green Meadows is organising a trip to the Kings Meadow Campus to see the models and explore the information they contain as well as discuss how they might be used in the future.
MEET AT THE MEADOWS LIBRARY: The free minibus will leave from the Meadows Library, Wilford Grove, Nottingham NG2 2DR at 10.45 and return for just before 12.00.
Please book with Eventbrite on the Green Meadows Website Events page.
It is fascinating to see all the different characteristics of our community that can be displayed on the model in a way that is easy to understand. You can see where the areas are that are hottest in the summer, where flooding might occur in the future, how different facilities link together and the travel times between them.
It is a fantastic tool that can also be used to see the effects of different changes over time – and has been used by the Planning Department to show the effect of new developments such as the ones that affect us on the northern edge going towards town.
They have also built a larger model of the whole of Nottingham that shows even more.
