As part of our Future-Fit Homes project, Meadows residents can receive a free home assessment and home improvement plan, giving you an idea of the changes you can make to your home to save energy and cut your bills.

Now, thanks to funding from The Cadent Foundation, Green Meadows are excited to announce Future-Fit Works; a variety of “easy win” energy saving measures to kickstart your Future-Fit plans. With measures ranging from insulation, ventilation, draughtproofing and more, you can save money on your bills while reducing your carbon footprint.

These plans are available to Meadows homeowners and landlords.

Already had your Future-Fit plan? Get in touch to find if you could be eligible for any free energy saving measures.

DIY Workshops

Our popular DIY workshops continued throughout February, with a whole host of different skills to be learned across a mixture of in-person events at our Climate Hub, as well from the comfort of your homes during our online events.

Our Basic DIY skills workshop on February 24th was a hit. Led by Helen Bartholomew, participants learned how to make their own coat hangers and tried their hand at a variety of hand and power tools, including saws, drills and more.

All of the workshops held at the Climate Hub are in small groups, ranging from 4-8 people. This means that all attendees have the space to try out their new practical skills, receive one-on-one support from professionals, and have time for questions.

It was great to see our participants leave with the knowledge to safely and confidently use common house tools.

Feb 11th saw the return of Nick Parsons for our ‘Solid Wall Insulation’ workshop. This was a great opportunity to find out about the difference between DIY and professional installations, as well as managing the risks.

If you’d like to come along to any of our upcoming workshops, view our upcoming events page or sign up to our newsletter to be notified.

Youth Climate Champions: Welbeck Workshops

Our Green Learning Coordinator Betty has been continuing her series of Young Climate Champions workshops around schools in the Meadows.

This term, she’s been back at Welbeck Primary School to teach Year 3 students all about plastics, and their effect on the environment.
Betty’s workshops highlight the negative sides of plastics, and how we can reuse and reduce our plastic consumption to help offset their environmental impact. By teaching these concepts in schools, Green Meadows is helping to kickstart a generation of environmentally conscious young people throughout the Meadows.

This term’s Young Climate Champions will graduate on the 9th March, having learned to reuse common household waste like milk cartons and transform them into purses and more.

Take a look below at our gallery for some of their creations, and keep an eye out for updates on their graduation!

Make sure to check back at the end of the month to see what we’ve been up to in March.

In the meantime, why not visit our events page to see what’s coming up, or sign up to our newsletter for exciting updates!
