Vote for the Next Meadows Community Mural
What’s happening?
Meadows residents have told us they would love to see the Sheriffs Way Underpass transformed into a brighter, more welcoming space.
Working with local artist Brian Fish Fingers Wrapped in Ham (FFWIH), we have developed three mural designs inspired by the theme: Meadows Green Dream: Steps Towards a Green Future. The designs are based on drawings created by pupils from local Meadows schools, bringing their ideas and imagination to the heart of the project.
The final design will be chosen by Meadows residents through a community vote.

DESIGN CONCEPT 1:
“This design has taken many of the children's drawings exactly as they were drawn, including the characters featured as passengers in the train carriages. Flowing through the town, into the embankment and its surrounding areas featuring iconic locations within The Meadows. Mixing the children's drawings with my own interpretations, this scenery aims to show the community of the area and its ever changing environments. It could show the future of the meadows through a child’s eye. On the community event day, participants will help fill in the shapes ready for the piece to be outlined by the artist on the last day of production.”
DESIGN CONCEPT 2:
“Bold imagery of block shapes and colours taken reference from around the Meadows area and the children's drawings collected. From the river Trent to hedgehog houses, this design attempts to show the children's ideas of how they want to see the meadows in the future alongside its strong community spirit and green spaces. On the community event day, locals will help filling in sections of block colours using paint brushes and rollers.”
DESIGN CONCEPT 3:
“Making the tunnel into an art gallery to show the amazing drawings the local children created. Each frame will feature an element from the children’s drawings. This will celebrate their designs and enable passers by to see the ideas they put forward about the area. We will leave a few of the frames empty for the community event. This way the local community can also leave their message on the day and work on a small section of the wall while we paint the kids designs directly into the frames.”
VOTE NOW UNTIL THE 25TH OF JUNE
This mural is for the Meadows community, so we’d love to hear from people who have a connection to the area. Whether you live, work, study, volunteer or regularly spend time in the Meadows, your vote will help shape the final design.
