Aged 13 - 25 and curious about climate resilience?
Come along, get hands-on, and help create planters for fruit trees and community growing spaces.
Green Meadows and FROMTHEGROUNDUP are joining up with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Youth Volunteers to run a FREE practical workshop where you'll learn to build a water-retaining planters.
This exciting project will help to:
🌧️ Reduce flooding by absorbing and storing rainwater
💧 Provide a water supply for plants during dry spells
🍓 Create local spaces to grow fruit, veg and plants
🦋 Bring colour, wildlife and life back onto our streets
During the workshop, you’ll work alongside Nottingham Wildlife Trust Youth Volunteers to transform old bale arm crates and fruit juice barrels into vibrant, functional planters. You’ll learn how to build planters that can hold up to 30 litres of water, helping plants thrive while saving water for drier periods.
These planters will be brimming with colourful fruit and veg, capturing rainwater and providing accessible, local food — all while supporting climate resilience!
You’ll build and plant up the planters, ready for use in backyards, streets or community spaces. You’ll have the option to take a crate planter home (we can arrange it to be delivered to you if necessary), while barrel planters will be donated to wild areas in the Meadows or Sneinton.
Imagine this…
These planters brimming with colourful fruit and veg, capturing water and providing easily accessible food!
