Fix it, Don’t Throw It!
Join us for a workshop and be part of setting up a Repair Café in the Meadows!
The workshop will decide who, what, when, and how we can get started, covering volunteer roles, the skills needed, the different things you want to mend, and more!
Where: Climate Hub, 32 Turney St, Meadows, NG2 2LG
When: Sat 15 Nov, 1:30pm-4:30pm
-
Repair cafés are free and welcoming meeting places that bring people together to maintain and repair the things they need and love. The Repair Café provides the tools, materials and helping hands to support you in making any repairs you need, ranging from clothes, to furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, jewellery, toys and more.
They are reliant on volunteers who are motivated and eager to organise, mend, share skills, and keep the café going!
We'll brainstorm and chat about topics such as: What skills do we have/need? What could we mend? Where and when are these services needed? How could the repair café work with other initiatives e.g. DIY Club? And more!
If you'd like to volunteer or get involved, this is the workshop for you! We will also be discussing the wide range of volunteering opportunities, from mending to marketing to baking, and so on. Additionally, if you already have interests, you can let us know on the order form by selecting a role you're interested in.
You don’t need to be from the Meadows to join. We encourage anybody who is interested in mending, getting stuff mended, part of a likeminded organisation or an existing repair café, to come along and get involved.
