Monthly Recap of August
From Festival prep to plans for the Meadows Big Clean Up, find out what we’ve been up to and what’s coming up!
Festival Preparations
The annual Green Meadows Festival is happening this Saturday, September 6th, from 12 to 4 pm at Queens Walk Recreation Ground.
We’ve been putting the finishing touches in place, including a fun Sign Making Workshop where attendees painted signs and props for the big day.
This included making a ‘face hole’ board, which was built by the Meadows DIY Club and then painted up, using a fantastic design by Meadows graphic design student Connor. Attendees worked together to project the design onto a wooden stand, traced the pattern, and then brought it to life with colourful paint!
It was just like a giant version of paint-by-numbers, making for a lovely and relaxing Saturday activity. Plus, the board looks amazing and will make for some great photos on the day. Well done, everyone!
The final design is a surprise, so make sure to come along and see it on the day! Check out some progress pics below…
If you haven’t signed up for the festival yet - don’t miss out!
With a range of activities, entertainment, crafts and more, be sure to spread the word to family and friends and join us for a memorable day of community fun.

The Meadows Big Clean Up - Starting 22nd September!
All three primary schools within the Meadows have come together to collectively make a difference and give the Meadows some TLC with a mass litter pick, the ‘Big Meadows Clean Up’.
From 22nd September, you will see the children of the Meadows primary schools leading the way, working together to clean up the Meadows.
They will further learn how, as a community, we can keep it that way through assemblies with Green Meadows, Clean Champions and passionate local residents.
The idea originated with the pupils of the Greenfields Community School Eco Council. After regularly litter picking to do their bit for the community, pupils and parents had noticed lots of litter in their neighbourhood and found it disheartening as they are proud of where they live and are passionate about looking after the environment. So, they decided to do something about it.
After learning about the environment in their Green Learning workshops delivered by Green Meadows Victoria Primary School have said: “…The pupils have not only learned about growing food but have also developed a sense of pride in contributing to a shared green space that benefits everyone… They have not only helped foster a love for the planet but also a deep sense of responsibility toward taking care of it.”
We know they will do a great job and we are proud of our Meadows pupils for taking action!
To show your thanks, please support everyone’s efforts by helping to maintain the cleanliness of the Meadows so it can continue to be a beautiful place people are proud to live in.
Energy Audit Stats are in!
You might remember hearing about the Energy Audit, which involved energy surveys carried out in all the Meadows house types. Well, the stats are in!
We surveyed 222 homes in the Meadows, covering 61 house types, and calculated both their current and potential energy performance if they were to undergo full retrofits.
The results show that upgrading all homes could save nearly 8,000 tonnes of carbon and over £5 million in energy bills each year!
Keep your eyes peeled - free energy-saving guides on how to achieve this for all house types are coming soon! Make sure to sign up for our monthly Newsletter to keep in the loop.
