September 2025
Monthly Recap of September
Looking back at the Green Meadows Festival, getting ready for the Community Consultation and catching up with the Meadows Photography Exhibition. Here’s what September had in store!
Green Meadows Festival 2025
September started out on a high with the Green Meadows Festival on Saturday 6th September. We were excited to bring this wonderful community celebration back for the fifth year running, with plans for it to be the most hands-on, interactive festival yet. With a host of engaging stalls and activities and over 350 registered attendees, this was a success!
Thank you to everyone who came along and got involved. And thank you to all the amazing staff, volunteers and activity facilitators who made it such a wonderful day.
Let’s Recap!
Green Meadows Community - With a whole bunch of initiatives ran by dedicated community members, the Festival was a great opportunity to showcase what’s happening on people’s doorsteps!
Edible Meadows & Community Composting - Highlighted where and what the group has growing in the Meadows, invited people to plant up seeds and ran two engaging group builds, constructing raised bed planters which are currently thriving at the Recreation Ground!
Make Do & Mend - invited attendees to come and try their hand at mending skills
Repair Café - Volunteers trialled a repair café where attendees could bring faulty and broken electrical items for money-saving, waste-preventing, quick repairs
DIY Club & Toolshare - Showcased a face hole board, crafted by the DIY club, and spread the word to community members about the free Toolshare and weekly DIY Club.
DIY Skills - A series of fun hands-on workshops, including…
Upcycling old crates into spongy planters in a session led by FromTheGroundUp. For more info, download the ‘how to’ guide here.
Plant Dye Studio joined us with a crafty session, dyeing fabric using natural plant dye.
A taster of our DIY Woodwork Workshops - attendees crafted their own coat peg.
Tiger Community Enterprise CIC ran a build your own slow cooker session - recycling old materials to make an energy saving cooker.

Community groups, charities and partners
Nottingham Forager joined us with a wild food quiz & taught us all about local foraging.
Saffron Science ran fun activities around renewable energy and solar!
AMC Gardens brought the refill station to the recreation ground.
Nonsuch Studios were there collecting memories of the Meadows, with Festival goers crafting lovely postcards with their personal messages to their local area.
Mammoth Cinema brought a pedal-powered cinema, holding film screenings throughout the day.
Cycle Saviour’s offered handy free cycle repairs.
The Wildlife Trust were on hand to chat about all the lovely work they do across Nottinghamshire.
Finally, thank you to everybody who came along and joined us on the day - we hope you all had as much fun as we did. If you enjoyed it, check out our upcoming events to see what we have coming up.
Meadows Photography Exhibition
During September, we hosted a photography exhibition at the Climate Hub by local artist Rita Pena. The exhibition highlighted life in the Meadows and was developed over the course of 4 years.
The work was developed in 3 stages. The first focused on the Radburn planning method, the second on the existing community groups of the neighbourhood and the third on imagining a future for the neighbourhood with a group of talented and kind students from Welbeck Primary.
We hope you got a chance to check out the exhibition. It was great to see the Climate Hub transformed with such fantastic work and we look forward to hosting more events like this in the future.
What initiatives are important to you in your community?
Vote in the Community Consultation to have your say.
What opportunities or resources would make your area better? What would you like to see more of in your community? Where would you like to see services delivered in Nottingham?
Whether you want to keep learning new DIY skills, access a co-working space and Toolshare, get tailored energy advice, or want to see something new… we want to hear about it!
The Community Consultation is here so YOU can have your say on what happens once Green Meadows’ lottery funding ends in April 2026. Let us know where you’d like services to be delivered and the type of services you’d like to receive. It’s as simple as that!
You’ll be helping us shape the project AND be in with the chance of winning a £50 voucher.
All events are free to attend. Check out our upcoming events.
